On this week's show: a 12-year old gives birth on a school trip, the Dutch celebrate a ten-year love affair with Princess Máxima, plus ten years of gay marriage in the Netherlands and finally it's spring.
Pre-teen mother
While on a school trip, a 12-year old girl went into labour last week and gave birth to a healthy child. The girl says she was not aware that she was pregnant. No more than 5 times a year do such young girls become pregnant in the Netherlands, and authorities want to know the identity of the baby's father.
The popular princess
Crown-prince Willem Alexander's wife Princess Máxima is, without a doubt, the most popular member of the Dutch royal family. But ten years ago, when her engagement to the prince was announced, there was concern about the decision because of her father's checkered past as a member of Jorge Videla's regime in Argentina.
10 years of gay marriage
10 years ago, the Netherlands became the first country in the world to legalise same-sex marriage. The first ceremonies were held in Amsterdam, at the stroke of midnight on on April 1, 2001. Since then thousand of homosexual couples have tied the knot.
Spring is in the air
After a cold winter complete with a remarkable amount of snowfall, and icy conditions, the Netherlands has finally thawed. It's spring in Holland, complete with warmer temperatures and a general elevation of everyone's mood.
