Forcing people off social welfare and into work

Published on : 17 January 2012 - 5:02pm | By Davion Ford (Photo: Nieuwsuur)
More about:

Rotterdam Alderman Marco Florijn wants to force people on social welfare benefits to take jobs in the flower industry. There is a constant demand for workers in the flower industry but most Dutch people are unwilling to do the work. Currently, most of the positions are filled by Polish migrant workers, who are happy to work for low wages.

It's a great problem in the flowers industry, we can be thankful that there are people willing to do this job, but conditions need to be improved for the future. Regards, Gerard
