Footballing against discrimination: the Prejudice squad

Published on : 1 September 2009 - 2:39pm | By Sigrid Deters
More about:

The 'Prejudice' soccer team in the eastern Dutch town of Enschede has come together for the first time: homosexuals, Moroccans, disabled people - basically a squad of people representing almost every group in the Netherlands that's ever encountered discrimination on the football pitch. Their first opponents? Former players from a local high-ranking team.

But this is not about winning (well, not all about winning)...

These players will take out their anger against the society, on the football. They will kick it, and send it into the goal, (how it resembles gaol!) and satisfy themselves. They cannot kick the public who err against them and send them into a gaol but they can certainly see their opponents in the ball and send it into the goal! Good for them!

Good for these players!

"basically a squad of people representing almost every group in the Netherlands that's ever encountered discrimination on the football pitch.".......Does the team have a representative from Christians and Jewish faiths or maybe a Hindu? How about a member of Wilder's party or Maybe Wilders himself? How and why did the Moroccan get on the team? What was the cause of discrimination? Too much baking soda in the Moroccan biscuits?
SigridDeters 3 September 2009 - 8:50am
Hi Hiram, In this team there is also someone from Surinam, a Hindu, refugees from different countries and different beliefs, a psychiatric patient, a physically disabled person, and so on. I cannot put quotes in this very short video from everyone. But it doesn't matter who or what you are in this team. That's what they want to show us. Hope you feel more satisfied with my reply.

SigridDeters, thanks. I feel more satisfied, now. I believe you. I hope the team wins, their games.
