Fatou Bensouda, are you a puppet of the West?

Published on : 26 May 2013 - 10:15am | By RNW Africa Desk ((C) RNW)
More about:

RNW recently spoke to Fatou Bensouda, the chief prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC). She is currently preparing the court's first trial of a head of state: Laurent Gbagbo, the former president of Ivory Coast.

By Sophie van Leeuwen

Gbagbo is charged with crimes against humanity in a highly divisive case. The ICC itself is also controversial in Ivory Coast and elsewhere on the African continent. RNW’s Africa Desk invited its visitors and listeners to suggest questions to put to the Chief Prosecutor. Here she answers the question: Are you a puppet of the West? To hear her answer, watch this short clip.

This video is part of the Africa Desk's French-language platform Regards sur Gbagbo to discuss the issues surrounding the ICC case against the former Ivorian leader.

She is a puppet of the west..a lap dog to destroy leaders that the
west want eliminated..
She is hated in Kenya..so much.
We do not understand for example why she keeps treating Kenyans dirt. And showing contempt to our leaders..Bensouda should rpect our country sovereignity. The justice he is pursuing in the country is Obamas and Camerons for they failed to get The leader they wanted.

It is a fatuous question to ask the case prosecutor whether she is "A Puppet of the West?" for legally pursuing the case against GBAGBO ! The West is guilty of a great deal of much wrong doing all over Africa over centuries but it certainly did not refuse to accept the results of the UN approved elections and intransigent, start a war over its outcome in which many Cote Ivoreans were killed !
