This year's wine production in the Netherlands is expected to be disappointing. A wet and warm spring, followed by a wet summer has destroyed much of the country's grapes.
The Netherlands currently produces two million bottles of wine a year. Farmers started making wine a decade ago, but they still don't have the experience and know-how to turn a profit every year. As a result, many wine farmers also run a bed and breakfast or raise pigs on the side to keep their heads above water.
