Dutch telecom companies in consumer privacy row

Published on : 20 May 2011 - 2:04pm | By Davion Ford (Photo: NOS)
More about:

Telecom companies KPN and Vodafone are under fire after admitting to using the controversial Deep Packet Inspection technique, which gives them access to clients' detailed personal information, such as what services they use via mobile internet, and potentially the content of messages.

Consumer protection and privacy watchdogs in the Netherlands are livid, though the companies say they have not violated anyone's privacy.
