Between 1950 and 1980 the Netherlands had a flourishing shipbuilding industry. Launch after launch was celebrated at shipyards in the north and west of the country. But the industry collapsed amid mismanagement and the rise of Asian shipyards.
Now shipbuilding is booming again, almost at the old level. Rotterdam has been hosting a big maritime fair where shipyards and suppliers can show off their know-how.
