Published on : 27 September 2011 - 10:56pm | By Davion Ford (Photo: EenVandaag)
More about:

The Zuiderpoort school, in Ede, wants to limit the number of ethnic minorities within the school population, in order to better mirror the population of the surrounding neighbourhood. But is the plan discriminatory?

Discussion

There are immigrants who don't like to assimilate .Their children can't hardly speak and understand dutch when starting at school, what gives the school a delay in progress. So to many of these children to greater the problem. The dutch are not afraid for the muslims they are afraid for their gouvernement, who tolorates woman circumcision and murder in behalve of the families honour. Anonimus has been away from holland too long I cannot share his opinion

Pretty soon the Dutch racists will be an ethnic minority.

Last time I visited Holland, it seemed that non-Europeans were the majority in many areas of the country. Does it really make sense to call them minorities? Perhaps someone can come up with a more accurate name?

Wait a minute, I have seen something like this before. May be not. May be in a film about Anne Frank. History sure repeats.

not talking of nature but film, that policeman should have begged for a minute instead of 'wait a minute' in a film named scar.nowadays it's digital world and nature-oriented world that collide, this two are on top of multi cultures.

Everybody wants to play the race card these days. I don't think this is about race but rather culture. These people probably fear muslims due to all the things they read about in the press, and wish to restrict the number of people from countries that are predominantly muslim. It isn't the persons race or skin colour that concerns them, but whether the person has been brought up in a moderate & peace loving society. Not every culture is equal, nor is every culture compatible with another, these are simple truths - for example in some cultures wife beating is so common that it is not considered "bad".

law of discrimination shouldn't have been informed to civilians but ok to be kept in mind of senior policy makers.now the young copies definition of discrimination without any discrimination.merely a school renovation makes that student relate to his character, birth, and childish equality.i extremely worship that policy maker's in advance notice compared with other countries' politicians.

Of course this is discrimination. For years the Dutch presented themselves to the world as a tolerant people--even though there was always a latent racism present--but, just as in the USA with its vocal Teaparty, it is now apparently more acceptable for certain factions to blatantly voice their Whites-only view. Where is the outrage by the rest of the Dutch?

The foundation of every state must be the education of its youth; education has for its object the formation of character.
"Dutch schools want fewer ethnic minorities" is just a wrong principle and evidence of anti-multiculturism in the Netherlands."The Netherlands only for the Dutch" a real national-socialist principle that does not fit in this modern world. To hell with those evil and abominable racists!

Easy, fella. It's not fair to paint the whole of the Netherlands with the same brush as the Zuiderpoort school's directors. If you do, you become just like them.

Anonymous 28 September 2011 - 8:00pm

Easy fella, about what? About racism? I have felt AND SUFFERED it(racism) myself in the Netherlands. You cannot tell me anything about it.

The purpose of schools is to prepare the students for the society in which they are going to live. Surely it must reflect badly on the teaching staff, if it would seem that the curriculum and methodology cannot be adjusted to achieve that purpose?
Here, in Australia, a country of immigrants ever since Willem Jansz, and James Cook, many schools would have been empty if only the children of Australian-born parents could have been enrolled, particularly in large areas of the major cities.
Not that this kind of plan might not have been favoured, in some places, here too. But luckily common sense usually prevails.

But is the plan discriminatory? Of course it is. That's precisely how the word 'discriminatory' is defined. That the directors think they can get away with this is the real mystery. The message that we're all equal regardless of colour is one they seem to have missed. I suspect they didn't teach that one back in the days when Han Plas went to school.
I submit that the Zuiderpoort school should limit the number of racist assholes on their board of directors to zero.
