Twenty Dutch blacksmiths gathered in the village of Andelst in November to create a number of wrought iron roses for a memorial in Oslo.
The metal flowers will adorn a monument commemorating the victims of this summer's Oslo massacre. Rightwing nationalist Anders Breivik shot and killed 69 youths at an island gathering of young social democrats in a self-declared crusade against migrants.
The initiative for the roses monument was taken by Norwegian blacksmiths who invited their colleages all across the world to contribute. In Norway roses have become the symbol of protests against violence. The memorial will be revealed on 22 July 2012, exactly a year after the massacre.

What a noble gesture by them! God bless the victims and their families.
