Digging for food in supermarket dumpsters with your bare hands. Many people wouldn’t think of it, but it’s normal for 'dumpster divers'. This is how they feed themselves every day.
In the Netherlands, lots of supermarket products are thrown away as the food nears its sell-by-date. As more and more people become aware of this kind of wastage, some are saving their lunch from the landfill.

I was a "dumpster diver" years ago, when I lost my job and home, and I never got ill from the food that I ate. Lots of it were in excellent conditions inside the original package. Of course there were some some bussinees owners who deliverately put chemicals on the food so nobody would take it. I bet when they were at home they gave thanks to God before dinner.
Profits is what allowed them to eat. It is a shame that governments spend so much money on wars but won't feed the "citizens" who are hungry. If you can dip into a dumpster to eat, why not ask the owner to set aside food. It appears from the video, the owner did set aside the food. Un-expired food which was wrapped in packages? It sounds like the owner did care and knew people were dipping into the dumpster. Legal purposes probably kept the owner from giving it away. Once in the trash, all liability is removed.
Food is life, and a hungry person will devise ways to find it. But yes, it is criminal to throw food in the dumpsters. They should distribute that near expiry food to the needy in a respectable way-respect both for food and fellow beings..
