Contemplations from the grave

Published on : 21 September 2009 - 1:54pm | By Jascha Jongeneel
More about:

Lying in an open grave to think about life and death. It is to this end, that student pastor John Hacking has dug a grave in the yard of the student church in the town of Eindhoven. Lying in the coffin, students can reflect on what makes their lives worthwhile.

Some students are put off by the notion of lying in a grave. Pastor Hacking says he cannot understand why: “Students have the guts to do things like bungee jumping, but don’t think about the rather important issue of the meaning of life”.

And also, those who are really, really scared can lie down next to the grave.
