China: Obama, stop nagging about our cheap yuan

Published on : 18 March 2010 - 11:53am | By Thijs Westerbeek van Eerten (Photo: RNW video)
More about:

China has had enough of the constant American and European criticism about the exchange rate of its currency, the yuan. In a very un-Chinese style it's now telling America to shut up and back off.

The Western World accuses China of keeping the exchange rate of the yuan artificially low. As a result Chinese products are simply too cheap for western producers to compete with.

President Barack Obama wants China to adopt a 'realistic' currency rate, but according to senior foreign affairs correspondent Bernard Hammelburg, China will - as always - do as it pleases. And the fact that China all but finances the entire American debt, makes Obama look like 'a mouse that roars'.

If it's a battle between love and sex, the negotiating table eventually needs a bit compromise and love. I was educated in elementary school in China that self-examing and being humble makes improvement; while being agressive makes the opposite.

I beg Chinese prime minister Mr. Wen Jia Bao, " can you please make sure love is to be passed onto each Canadian civilian before love is easily obtained by politicians?" I have been suffering mistrust and no-love in Canada.
