Child labour is a reality in Bolivia

Published on : 11 November 2010 - 11:28am | By VJ Movement (Photo: VJ Movement)
More about:

Victor is 13 years old and he wants to become a policeman or a doctor. But for the time being, he divides his time between working and studying. He helps his parents tend to their cows, and on Fridays, he goes to the city to tell people which bus they should take. That’s how Victor earns money to go to school.

Victor is one of the 800,000 children in Bolivia who work. That’s nearly a quarter of all the children under the age of 14.

Pedro, who himself worked as a child, says there is a big difference between dreams and reality: the reality is that many Bolivian children work. It’s inevitable, he says.
