A number of Dutch police units have been experimenting with the use of body cameras as a means of deterring violence and aggression against police officers. The body cams appear to help authorities track down suspects. But when it comes to preventing disturbances of the peace, research has shown them to be ineffective.

The experiment also came up with other results, but the main conclusion was that bodycam's can be of use for the police in other fields and systems are not yet fit for nation-wide introduction. The experiment will continue to explore the other fields of usage and must also produce a list of mandatory requirements for bodycam's, a video/multi media management system and adaptions to the (new)police uniform at the end of 2012. User friendlyness, less cables , data security, robustness, low light capabilities are also to be on the list of requirements.
