Angolan asylum-seeker allowed to stay with her children

Published on : 12 January 2011 - 6:11pm | By Eric Beauchemin (Photo: Nieuwsuur)
More about:

Thanks to the case of one Angolan woman, about 1,850 rejected asylum-seekers in Holland will not be separated from their children.

The Dutch government wanted to kick the refugees out and put their children in foster homes or orphanages. But the Appeal Court in the Hague ruled that, under European law, Louisa's family cannot be separated.

Wow !!

First, the humanity is honored by the ruling of the Appeal Court, overturning the decision of the Govt.

Second, the Govt. is honorable enough to accept such a ruling with grace.

I simply adore The Netherlands... It is one of the most humane society to live in..

It is encouraging to see that we still have a judiciary system that is just; and that values human interest, rights and dignity above anything else. I would be be even more pleased if Louisa gets additional support to be able to look after herself and her family. For example getting skills training to enable her to find a job.

Wow, we needed an appeal in court to come to an enlightened decision like this! Bravo Dutch government, the time of being a 'fatsoensrakker' is definitely behind you.
