On Sunday Ajax fans got what they'd been dreaming of for weeks: their club beat FC Twente 3-1 in the deciding match for the Premier League championship.
The Amsterdam club became national champions for the 30th time and so earned a third star on their red and white shirts.
80,000 fans surged toward the Museumplein (Museum Square), where trainer Frank de Boer and all the players proudly showed off their champion's dish. A slightly damaged dish, as goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg had accidentally dropped the trophy on the way.
The festivities did not go totally smoothly however. Dozens were injured in the crowds. Fights and scuffles led to the arrests of 46 people.
In Enschede's town centre, after the match, the disappointed and disillusioned supporters of FC Twente dispersed and went their separate ways.
