Born in the northem Dutch town of Alkmaar, not far from the main cheese market, and raised in the country's pleasant south, I spent my formative years in the bustling capital Amsterdam in the 1980s. A graduate in European Studies, I first got a job at the European edition of Billboard music magazine, before moving on to the Radio Netherlands newsroom.

I'm an avid traveller, a keen juggler and a passionate football-fan. I love Thai and ltalian food, Belgian beer and Spanish wine, all preferably in huge quantities. My favourite authors include Dostoyevsky, Wilde and Reve. My favourite radio station...have one guess.
