Togo and Angola play the blame game
Angolan authorities have arrested two people over the shootout in the northern province of Cabinda that killed three officials accompanying the Togolese football team. Newsline's West Africa correspondent Bram Posthumus is in Togo's capital Lomé, where the national team arrived home on Sunday.

In Angola, meanwhile, authorities are facing questions over the decision to host matches in Cabinda province. Alex Vine, an Africa analyst at the think tank Chatham House in London, told Newsline that both parties could have done much more to prevent the tragedy.

Israel to build fence against illegal immigration
Israel has announced plans to build a barrier along part of its border with Egypt. In recent years, thousands of African migrants have entered Israel illegally, many of them from Ethiopia and Darfur. Prime Minister Benjamin Netenyahu said that the new fence was intended to secure Israel's security and democratic character. RNW's correspondent in Jerusalem, David Poort, told Newsline that all the political parties in Israel backed the new barrier.

Zimbabwe opposition politician faces death penalty
A senior opposition politician in Zimbabwe will go on trial tomorrow, charged with treason. Roy Bennett is treasurer of Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai's Movement for Democratic Change, but he has never taken up his position in parliament. He's accused by President Robert Mugabe of trying to overthrow the government - the state says he provided funds to pay for weapons to assassinate Mugabe. It's not the first time Mr Bennett has been in the dock: in 2004 he spent eight months in prison after fighting with the Zimbabwean justice minister. This time he faces the death penalty. He spoke to Newsline ahead of tomorrow's hearing.
