The warlord, the supermodel and the 'dirty looking stones'
They say diamonds are a girl's best friend, but today supermodel Naomi Campbell proved they can also be a bit of a drag, when she was forced to appear as a witness at former Liberian leader Charles Taylor's war crimes trial in the Netherlands. The prosecution claims she was given a so-called "blood diamond" by the warlord. Listen to Naomi speaking about the diamonds and an analysis by our Justice editor Hermione Gee.
US judge says 'no' to gay marriage ban
An American court has overturned California's ban on same-sex marriages. The ban, known as Proposition 8, was adopted in a state referendum in 2008. But the judge ruled it was unconstitutional to deny anyone the right to marry. But Evan Wolfson of the Freedom to Marry organisation in America says there's still a long way to go before same-sex marriages are finally legalised in the US.
Mexican President wants to legalise drugs
Mexican President Felipe Calderón says legalising drugs may be the only option to end the ongoing violence in the country. Clashes between drugs cartels and police have killend 30,000 people since Mr Calderón came to power in 2006. Dutch Professor Raymond Buvé at Leiden University told Newsline why Mr Calderón changed his mind.
