How will the cabinet survive?
The Dutch cabinet, led by Prime Minister Jan Peter Balkenende, remains deeply divided over the future of the Dutch mission in Uruzgan. The two main coaltion partners - Labour and the Christian Democrats - are on a collision course about whether to extend the mission or not. Will Balkenende's cabinet survive this row? Our political correspondent John Tyler reports.
Niger President ousted - but what next?
The international community has condemned the military coup in Niger in which President Mamadou Tandja was ousted. But there are also many countries glad to see the back of the President, says our West Africa correspondent Bram Posthumus.
Somalia: Finding new recruits across the border
The Somali government has announced a new major offensive against al-Shabaab, the extremist islamic rebel group which is linked to al-Qaeda. Both the government and al-Shabaab are using northeast Kenya as a recruiting ground for fresh troops. We have a report from the region by our Africa correspondent Koert Lindijer.
