Violence flares in Mogadishu
Islamist rebels clashed with government troops and African Union peacekeepers in the Somali capital this morning, killing at least 22 people. The violence in Mogadishu comes at the end of a week which has seen fighting between pro-government militias and al Shabaab insurgents in central and southern regions of Somalia, and the reappearance of Ethiopian troops in border areas.
