US-China relationship 'to shape century'
The relationship between China and the US will shape the 21st century, according to US President Barack Obama. He was speaking at the opening of two days of talks between senior officials from both nations. Climate change, security and the economy are all on the agenda, but analysts warn not to expect too much in the way of concrete outcomes.

Abortion boat stays in the dock
Following changes to Dutch law, the organisation Women on Waves has cancelled all upcoming trips by its 'abortion boat'. In previous years the boat would anchor in international waters and offer the abortion pill and medical advice to women in countries where abortion is illegal.

Houses of clay and rubble
Palestinians in the Gaza Strip are finding inventive ways around the Israeli blockade of the area. No building materials have been allowed into the Strip since the war earlier this year - so people are putting to use the two things Gaza does have plenty of: clay and rubble.
