State of emergency in Thailand
Thailand's Prime Minister Abhisit declared a state of emergency in Bangkok today after protesters stormed parliament buildings. The supporters of ousted former Prime Minister Thaksin, known as the "Red Shirts", have held protests against the current government for four weeks. The state of emergency gives broad powers to the police and military to crack down on street protests. Listen to an interview with our correspondent Michel Maas.
High alert in the Netherlands
The Netherlands may become a more dangerous place in the run up to June's general elections. The national coordinator of counterterrorism, Erik Akerboom, has warned that the heated debate on Islam may provoke violence and attacks on politicians.
Tuberculosis in Romania
It's World Health Day today and one of the diseases that's still a major problem for humanity is tuberculosis. In the developing world, the disease is still prevalent. And within the EU, it's the new eastern member states who are struggling with the problem. Our correspondent Tom Wilson looks at how the disease is being dealt with in Romania.
