30,000 extra US troops to face defiant Taliban:
The Taliban say they will intensify the fight against foreign forces after US President Barack Obama's announcement that he will send 30,000 extra troops to Afghanistan.

Squatters protest ahead of new law:
Protestors demonstrating against proposed anti-squatting laws occupied a symbolic royal palace in Amsterdam’s Dam square last night. Police were out in force, expecting an attempt to occupy the real palace.

Dutch sex workers not in favour of new trafficking laws:
60 years after the UN introduced a treaty to ban trafficking women into prostitution, the Dutch government says it wants to take its own measures to tackle the problem by forcing all sex workers to get a license.
