Reforming Thailand's monarchy
Thailand's Foreign Minister Kasit Piromya has called for a review of the role of the Thai monarchy. Mr Piromya believes reform should be discussed following the country's worst civil violence in almost 20 years.
His comments are highly unusual in Thailand, where King Bhumibol is seen as a divine figure by many. Listen to an interview with Dutch expert on the Thai monarchy Irene Stengs.
Loose-nuke tribunal in The Hague
Dutch Prime Minister Jan Peter Balkenende said, at President Obama's international summit on nuclear security, that states supplying terrorist groups with nuclear material should be prosecuted by a special international tribunal.
While several Western countries reacted positively to the initiative, some observers are more critical. Listen to an interview with one of the critics, Dutch international law professor Marcel Brus.
World free speech capital: Iceland?
Iceland's much anticipated "Truth Report" into the causes of the 2008 financial crisis has highlighted the "extreme negligence" of senior political and financial figures. A proposal supported by all Icelandic political parties is now trying to ensure that Icelanders won't be kept ignorant again.
The Icelandic Modern Media Initiative aims to make the country a haven for online journalists and whistleblowers from around the world. Listen to an interview with Danny O'Brien of the Committee to Protect Journalists.
