200,000 people living along the Indo-Bangla border are essentially stateless

South Asia Wired - No man's land

On air: 20 July 2011 11:30 (RNW)

More about:

The governments of India and Bangladesh are currently surveying the border between the two countries. More than 200,000 people live along the patchwork boundary, in isolated enclaves without formal government recognition.

This week we hear from chitmahalis about living a stateless life. Then from no government, to too much... we talk with a founder of WikifyIndia, an Internet platform launched to help people navigate India's notorious bureaucracies.
