HEAR THE WORLD (repeat) Both Moroccan singer Cherifa and Algerian singer Djamel Laroussi represent the North African Berber culture, but their music is completely different.
Cherifa follows the tradition of travelling singers who perform at celebrations and ceremonies. Improvisation plays a key role in her passionate singing, and gives her mix of rural poetry and love songs an adventurous character.
A mixture of cultures and rhythms from all over the world is the basis for the music of Algerian singer-guitarist Djamel Laroussi. Rai, rock, samba and salsa sounds are brought together in unique catchy numbers.
