In this special edition of Newsline we look at the question: 'Who Profits from microfinance?" And to kickstart our focus on microfinance we held a debate at the Peace Palalce in the Hague.

With 4 billion people in the world living on less than 2 dollars a day, it is clear poverty is as big an issue in 2010 as ever before. Microfinance - where people are given loans rather than gifts of money -  is seen as an alternative to pure aid.
