Iraq inquiry may tarnish government
The Dutch government did not have a mandate under international law to give political support to the US-led invasion of Iraq in March 2003. That is one of the conclusions in the report presented today by the Davids Commission. The commission has been looking into the Dutch decision to support the invasion, and there may be consequences for the current cabinet. Our political editor John Tyler explains the commission's findings.

Iran accuses Israel of killing a scientist

Iran's foreign ministry says there are signs that Israel and the United states are responsible for the death of a nuclear physics professor who was killed in a bomb attack in the capital Tehran today. Iranian media report that Masoud ali Mohammadi, of Tehran University, died when a remote controlled bomb exploded near his home. Local media also say the scientist was a supporter of Iran's regime and was killed by 'anti-revolutionary' groups. Listen to an interview with our Tehran correspondent Thomas Erdbrink.

Anne Frank's protector dies

Miep Gies, the woman who helped hide Anne Frank from the Nazis, has died aged 100. She was the last surviving member of the group who put their lives on the line for the Frank family, helping them escape persecution by providing a hiding place in an Amsterdam canal house. Miep Gies found Anne's journals after the girl was discovered and taken to a German concentration camp, and handed them over to her father Otto Frank when he returned from Auschwitz at the end of the war. Anne Frank expert, David Barnouw speaks about the significance of Miep Gies.
