In patriotism there can be no leakages and impurities. though an interesting article I think even the drugs should be banned in these military troops. Cause this might lead to a serious damage..and finally to the reputation of the particular nation. so once if there are any soldiers consuming drugs they should be immediately be enrolled in any of drug rehab centers

In analyzing the fairness of the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy, I'm reminded of what I learned in my feminist theology classes. To analyze whether a particular text was biased against women, one of the tools we used was to reverse the gender roles in the story. If the story still made sense, it was gender neutral. If it sounded absurd, there was gender bias. Similarly, I think you can really see how discriminatory this policy is by reversing the policy. If everyone in the military was assumed to be gay and dishonorably discharged if they were found to be straight, it's immediately apparent that the policy is unreasonable. The arguments put forth about unit cohesion are an attempt to legitimize discrimination and do not have merit.

Being a soldier is about putting your own biases aside and work for the good of the nation and the unit. To exclude competent and talented soldiers because their sexual orientation makes others uncomfortable is not in the best interest of the nation or the unit. Soldiers need to put aside their personal prejudices, be it against gays, blacks, Latinos, women, left-handers or whomever, and focus solely on the success of the mission. If homophobic soldiers can't handle serving with talented comrades who happen to be gay, it's they who need to put aside their biases and adapt or otherwise quit.

Very interesting story on gays in the military with some great examples and interviews. Thanks!
