Earth Beat - GM Food, solution or even bigger problem?

On air: 24 June 2009 22:00 - 29 June 2009 22:00 (Photo: RNW)

More about:

2 July 2009 - French Documentary maker Marie-Monique Robin puts Monsanto and GM in the dock in her new film "The World according to Monsanto." We ask her what she's so scared of.

Soil Scientist Prem Bindraban from Wageningen University in the Netherlands has been researching GM for 30 years and says it's not not the technology thats the problem, it's governments failing to keep private companies in check.

One government that is on the ball when it comes to green issues is Sweden. As they take over the EU presidency we ask - Can Sweden save the world? And will they start a mini green revolution.

More food, glorious food as we meet the inventors of man-made rice. Yes, that sounds weird but DSM hope that their product 'nutri-rice' will help to rescue 100 million Africans from 'Hiddden Hunger' (or malnutrition) by 2015. Of course the proof is in the pudding - does this man-made rice fool anyone. Producer Fiona Campbell is our guinea pig in residence for a blind taste test.
