Listen to today's edition of Newsline

German Chanceller Angela Merkel got straight down to work today after her victory in Sunday's elections. She  secured a new four-year mandate, while her former coalition partner, the leftist Social Democrtats suffered humiliating losses. Our correspondent in berlin,  Brett Neely brings us up to date on the new shape of Germany's government.

The Kenyan authorities are due to begin an operation to close down the country's largest camp for internal refugees. Thousands of people fled their homes during post-election violence in 2008, and many are still in camps either in Kenya or across the border in Uganda. But the ethnic and political tensions behind the violence have not disappeared - and our correspondent Koert Lindijer says many of the displaced are reluctant to go home.

Authorities in Switzerland say they had no choice but to arrest the film director Roman Polanski at the weekend. The move has been criticised by Polanski's adopted country France, and major figures in the film world. From Switzerland, Imogen Foulkes has more.
