EARLY MUSIC: De Nederlandse Bachvereniging presents a number of small scale works on texts from the Old Testament attributed to king Salomon. For many centuries, these ancient love songs inspired poets, painters and composers to create the most moving works of art. It is no surprise, therefore, that in 17th-century Germany also these sensuous texts surfaced in music, of which we’ll hear examples by Böhm, Buxtehude and J.C. Bach. The Centrepiece of this concert is Johann Christoph Bach’s nuptial cantata ‘Meine Freundin, du bist schön’.
