Hélène Michaud from our Africa department made a recent trip to the Democratic Republic of Congo following the President of the International Criminal Court, Sang-Hyun Song, as he sought to explain the role of the court in a region devastated by war.
Most of the suspects on trial at the ICC come from this eastern Ituri region. Hélène tells us how her trip there got underway.
