I love how the EU papers keep putting the cute pictures of baby seals along with the story to quiet people who may be against the ban. Personally I have never purchased a seal product. I will caution the EU politicians on continually giving in to activists. Remember when the Greenpeace members blew up a Euronext executives car because a company that tested on animals was listed on the exchange? That is akin to blaming Deutsche Bank for something their customer did. If the EU keeps caving to these fundamentalists EU grocery stores will be empty, car dealerships will be vacant, and shopping malls will be gated.

All the EU seal ban will do is for the coastguard (DFO) to preform partial culls. Yes many more seals will suffer due to the EU ban, the EU will be responsible. What is wrong with these culls? Nothing is used, not even the fur. The seals suffer greatly, remote actions with landings hours or days later. If the seals are not hunted they will be culled. Why must the seals be killed? Well you ask they are fish eating machines. Why are we facing killing them? They have no local predators. What eats seal? Man, shark, Walrus. Well, the Europeans took all the walrus' before Canada was a country, Spain is killing all the sharks as by catch through their drift netting. PS. The Wikipedia article is fully incorrect as for real populations they are 10 to 20 times the population in Wikipedia is smaller than the population in Canada alone http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harbor_Seal
