“…Antonin Dvorak’s seventh symphony, the least performed of the three final symphonies, is placed in the limelight today live at the Concertgebouw. The renowned maestro Herbert Blomstedt returns to Amsterdam and will shed new light on this Dvorak symphony conducting the RCO. He will also share with us his lifelong affection for Scandinavian music. The RCO’s principal flute Emily Beynon is soloist in Carl Nielsen’ Flute Concerto, one of the greatest flute concertos in the repertoire. Our point of departure is located even farther north than Nielsen’s Danmark. The Finnish composer Jean Sibelius takes us deep into the pine forests where the ancient god Tapio is the supreme ruler…” [RNW-host Hans Haffmans]

Het was een schok voor mij te lezen, dat de klassieke muziekzender door bezuinigingen ermee gestopt is. Wij Nederlanders in het buitenland worden zo afgesneden van de Nederlandse cultuur.
