Fear of war crimes charges delay Israeli visit to UK:
A group of senior Israeli military officers has delayed a scheduled trip to the United Kingdom because of fears they could be arrested on war crimes charges. British courts have universal jurisdiction over alleged war crimes - and any UK citizen could potentially seek an arrest warrant against them.

MEPs Tehran trip cancelled amid continuing civil unrest:
A delegation of Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) due to meet with Iranian MPs and opposition leaders later this month will not be going to Iran after all. Brussels says Tehran scrapped the visit, citing insufficient preparation time, Iran says the MEPs are the ones who cancelled.

Dutch captain repels pirate attack:
On 30 December, the crew of the Album - a tanker bound for Singapore - spied a fishing boat heading towards them in the Arabian Sea. Within minutes the boat's intentions became clear as the men on board tried to force the Album to stop. The men were Somali pirates.
