Copenhagen talks deadlocked, but hope remains
With only one full day left, the climate summit in Copenhagen seems to be in deadlock with no end agreement in sight. Several NGOs joined protestors last night by holding a sit-in in the conference hall, demanding more action from the official delegates. Behind the scenes, several top negotiators are working frantically to come up with some sort of agreement. RNW correspondent Willemien Groot checks in with the latest from Copenhagen.

Pope opposes Uganda death penalty on homosexuality
Pope Benedict is opposed to 'unjust discrimination' against gay men and lesbians, according to a statement addressed to a United Nations panel by the Vatican's legal attache, the Reverend Philip J Bene, today. The statement is being seen as a response to a bill being considered by the Ugandan parliament, which would introduce the death penalty for 'aggravated homosexuality' in the east African country. Newsline interviews the Ugandan MP David Bahati, who supports the bill, and Mark Bromley of the Council for Global Equality.
