Sunday 12 February RNW - NEWS AND ANALYSIS FROM THE NETHERLANDS IN 10 LANGUAGES, WORLDWIDE 24/7 ON RADIO, TV AND ONLINE

European Jazz Stage - Caribbean & More…

On air: 3 November 2010 8:00 - 2 February 2011 8:00 (Lilian Vieira)

More about:

EUROPEAN JAZZ STAGE "...loosen those hips for a round trip of the Caribbean and more...
We have a swirling performance from the North Sea Jazz Festival by piano wizard Michel Camilo, who was born in the Dominican Republic.
Also from a Caribbean island, Curaçao, we have another great pianist and composer: Randal Corsen.
And we also went to the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam to record Dutchman Jan Hartong, who studied Salsa with New York pianist Eddie Martinez, and in Cuba, too, with keyboard greats Herman Lopez-Nussa and the late Emiliano Salvador.
We follow that with Brazilian-born singer Lilian Vieira with her band 70-ies Samba Soul shaking the classical foundations of that same concert hall, Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw.'' [RNW-host Daniel Frankl]
