Live at the Concertgebouw: "...Early 18th century Amsterdam was an important centre for music publishing. Vivaldi, Corelli and Scarlatti had their music printed in Amsterdam and the great Italian violinist and composer Locatelli even settled along one the many canals in Amsterdam, sometimes called the Venice of Northern Europe. This music is by a Dutch composer from those flourishing years in the arts: Conrad Hurlebusch. Later on the show I will introduce him and a few of his Dutch colleagues to you. But first, the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra will present an anthology of masterworks from the Baroque and the early classical period. The Italian flutist and conductor of early music ensembles Giovanni Antonini has come to Amsterdam today to make his debut with the orchestra, in a way following the trail of his famous Italian predecessor, Pietro Antonio Locatelli..."
