LIVE AT THE CONCERTGEBOUW week 16 ‘… Lavinia Meijer is a young Dutch harpist who has made a name for herself as a brilliant virtuoso and as a musician who has shown a keen interest in all sorts of unusual musical collaborations. She did a project with a dance company, performed a provocative brand new piece for harp and ghetto blaster by Jacob ter Veldhuis, known in the United States as Jacob TV. Moreover, Lavinia is fully at ease in the great classical harp repertoire.
Lavinia is from South Korean origin but was adopted by a Dutch family. Today she shares with us both her Dutch and her Korean roots with a solo piece by Isang Yun, the poetic Korean composer and with the Concerto for harp and orchestra by the Dutch composer Henk Badings.’’ [RNW-host Hans Haffmans]
