Terror suspects detained
400 Australian police officers raided 19 properties in the city of Melbourne this morning aftyer a 7 month investigation into suspected terrorists linked to the Somali-based al-Shabab group. Four men are being detained on suspicion of planning a suicide attack on an army base.
Clinton on North Korea mission
Former US president Bill Clinton is on a surprise trip to North Korea, apparently to try and negotiate the release of two American reporters who were recently jailed for 12 years of hard labour.
UK MPs demand torture inquiry
A British parliamentary committee is calling for an independent inquiry into allegations of UK complicity in the torture of terrorism suspects. The committee has been looking into the cases of seven British nationals detained abroad, and in a highly critical report said there were a disturbing number of credible allegations that British intelligence officers were complicit in torture.
