Afghan challenger says election "rigged"
The main challenger to President Hamid Karzai says he has evidence that last Thursday's election was "widely rigged". With counting underway and partial results expected tomorrow, the country is on tenterhooks, and the Electoral Commission says it has received 225 complaints, scores of which are being investigated. Malaysia delays caning
Kartika Sari Dewa Shukarno was due to receive 6 strokes of the cane this week, after being found guilty of drinking beer. She would have been the first Muslim woman to be caned in Malaysia but in a surprise move, the authorities released her and say the sentence will be carried out after Ramadan. Malaysia's majority Malays are subject to Sharia law, although the Chinese and Indian minority are not. Listen to interview with Marco Winter.
Around the world at 13-years-old
Dutch teenager Laura Dekker has an unusual dream, she wants to beome the youngest person to sail solo arounfd the world. But while her parents are happy for her to make the attempt, the Dutch child protection authorities are not. And they're going to court to try and stop Laura setting sail next week.
