Afghanistan to hold a run off on November 7:
Officials have announced that Afghanistan will face a deciding round of voting in November after the first round was discredited by fraud. Incumbent president Hamid Karzai has accepted the decision.
Cautious welcome for new US policy towards Sudan:
Reports that both rebel and government forces have been massing in Darfur have raised fears of new violence. While US policy towards the war-ravaged nation may have shifted, prospects of peace are as tenuous as ever.
