European Jazz Stage - Week 32

JULY! In Dutch we say “Juli” -- but for jazz musicians in the Netherlands we could just say “North Sea Jazz,” because this is when over 1000 musicians from all over the world make this ten day extravaganza a highlight of the European summer festival season.
Right now in Rotterdam , the 2010 North Sea festival is just getting underway, so to give you a better understanding of what we’re so excited about we’ve assembled some outstanding tracks from last year’s event.
We have two names you know and two that we hope you’ll get to know. We begin with piano legend McCoy Tyner. Then we’ll hear from the outstanding Dutch vocalist Wouter Hamel; the renowned bass-player Scott Colley with his quartet, and finally a young winner of the Thelonious Monk Award -- the Norwegian guitarist Lage Lund.
