President Armando Guebuza of Mozambique has won a landslide re-election with almost 76 percent of the vote, election officials announced on Wednesday.
In the presidential and parliamentary elections on 28 October, Mr Guebuza's Frelimo Party increased its majority from 160 seats to 191 seats in the 250-member legislature.
Frelimo has been in power since it led the country to independence from Portugal in 1975. Despite being one of Africa's poorest countries, Mozambique has growth potential in the areas of tourism and untapped mineral and energy resources.
