Wire tapping - even tapping mobile phone text messages - only allows capture of conversations that occur after the tap is put in place. This is allowing them access to messages posted at any time, so it's not the same. They should be allowed to access the same information as they would for a wiretap, meaning that once they have the required warrant they can start capturing messages.
