Aphrodite Phoenix 6 March 2012 - 1:20pm / USA

The only sex work I've done is completely independent: of my own will, with me completely in charge and feeling empowered by it. I can't imagine being forced. Having known the beautiful side of sex work---yes there is a beautiful side--I am perhaps more horrified than anyone when I hear about force and torture.
But this belief that the womens' personalities are being broken down, this belief that their desire to stay in the work comes from something in them that has died...may be wrong. Perhaps these women experienced some of the beauty--for instance: sweet, appreciative clients--and want to remain in the work because of that.
As usual, there's a lack of balanced perspective here.
