Members of the Indian army have stormed a hotel in the Indian region of Kashmir, where two militants had been holed for nearly 24 hours.
The militants, who yesterday had carried out an attack in Srinagar, Kashmir's summer capital, were shot dead. A police officer and another person were also killed and a number of people injured. The attack was claimed by a pro-Pakistan militant group.
The conflict over Kashmir has triggered two wars between Pakistan and India since their independence from Britain in 1947. Peace talks between the two countries were suspended following the terrorist attack in the Indian metropolis of Mumbai at the end of November 2008.
