If a woman had the ability to force a man to have sex with her, and force him to accept her gametes, then intercourse would be bilateral. But neither is the case.
In the theoretical example, if you would refuse to have your ventral pouch under the control of a woman who gave you her eggs, then you do not believe in equality.
